Spelling City

 

SpellingCity is a resource you may use to practice spelling words.  There are many games available.  You can also download this as an app on the iPad if you would like to practice spelling words on the go with a busy schedule!

Accelerated Math

 

In the Fall, Winter, and Spring we take the STAR math test.  If you would like to practice math for this test you may visit the Accelerated Math website.  You student can watch videos and complete assignments that target the areas in math they should learn in fourth grade and will be tested for the STAR test.

IXL

 

The IXL website offers wonderful learning tools for math.  It is divided into each grade level.  After you chose fourth grade, they list all of the topics we will cover during the year.  You can chose one to practice.

Engage New York Videos

 

Our new math curriculum has some very helpful videos if you ever get stuck on a homework assignment.  These videos will help to explain the new concepts on the homework.

Typing

 

During the MSTEP test this year we found there to be a lot of typing.  This site is a beginners guide to practice typing.  You will start by learning how to type a few letters, but it will become more difficult as you practice more.

NoRedInk

 

One of the big areas we focus on in writing in fourth grade is editing.  The NoRedInk website allows practice at editing sentences.  Your child can become the teacher by editing the sentences on the website.  You can pick what grammar concept you would like to practice.

Raz-Kids

 

This website is a wonderful place to practice reading.  Students can listen to books or they can read books on their own.  At the end of the book they take a short quiz.  They can earn stars by reading books and taking quizzes. 

Prodegy

 

If you are looking for a fun and competitive way to practice math this website is the place to go.   It is set up like a video game.  To get to the next level you are required to answer fourth grade math questions.

LearnZillion

 

This site offers lessons and videos about any of the math concepts we will be learning in fourth grade.  You can just search for the concept we are studying in class to view a video.  The great part of this website is that the lessons and videos are aligned with the new Common Core standards.

Khan Academy

 

Khan Academy is a wonderful site that offers video tutorials for students on math concepts.  The videos walk students through difficult concepts.  This would be a great tool for students to use if they are struggling to remember a specific math concept.
